Library Trustee Wanted
The Board of Trustees of the Barberton Public Library is seeking a community member to join the Board who possesses a passion for the community and public library service. A Trustee must be a registered voter, with Barberton residency preferred. The successful candidate will serve a four-year term that runs through June 2030.
The seven-member Board of Trustees is the governing body authorized by the State of Ohio to establish policies and develop the Library's annual budget. Board members are volunteers who represent the citizens' interests while promoting the highest level of library service appropriate to the community, in accordance with state law. The Library Director and Fiscal Officer work with the Board to ensure that the community is being provided with library services and materials that reflect Barberton's values and standards.
The Board generally meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The Personnel, Finance and Audit, and Building & Equipment Committees also meet as needed, and each trustee serves on at least one committee.
