Psychologists like Carl Jung have recommended coloring as a relaxation technique that can have therapeutic benefits.   Mandalas have long been a familiar and acceptable way for adults to color, but recently there have been an abundance of beautifully rendered coloring books that have become available for adults.

Learn to make this cute card using the iris folding technique using paper, card stock and tape. We will make 2 holiday cards in this class- one for Thanksgiving/Fall and one for Christmas. The library will provide the supplies.

Chair Yoga for Beginners

Join us at the library to improve your flexibility by participating in a free chair yoga class. This gentle program is designed for seniors and individuals struggling with mobility. The class will be led by Colleen Hohl, a 200 hour certified yoga instructor from the Asheville Yoga Center in North Carolina.

Medina Raptor Center

Enjoy a visit from the Medina Raptor Center. Using live birds, an educator will talk about the natural history of birds of prey and the unique and vital roles they play in our ecosystems. Join us in the Children's Department before and after the program for owl, hawk, and eagle crafts. This program is open to all ages.

Sunday Afternoon with the Akron PopsEnjoy an afternoon full of music with the Akron Pops! The Pops is a group of 40 to 50  volunteer musicians who perform in the greater Akron area. The group, was founded in 1926 by area physicians and was originally called the Akron Doctor’s Orchestra. The performance will be at the Active Adult Center located inside the Lake Anna YMCA. Doors will open at 2:30 pm for the concert, and seating is first-come, first-served. 

Beginning Beekeeping

Meet Evona Gaughan, owner of Gaughan Bee Dancin' in Medina, Ohio.  Evona will be here to talk about beginning beekeeping.
Those interested in beekeeping will learn the basics of beekeepking: local ordinances, where to place the hive, how to install bees and how to inspect a hive. This free family-friendly program is open to everyone.

Prohibition in Barberton

The Eighteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution established the prohibition of "intoxicating liquors" in the United States. The amendment was proposed by Congress on December 18, 1917, and was ratified by the requisite number of states on January 16, 1919. Much of the groundwork that was done to bring Prohibition about was done right here in Ohio.
