The decades of the 1920s and 1930s were a period of great change for the country, and the world. This time period brought about new technologies, social change, and the largest economic downturn in the nation’s history. By the end of the 1930s, the modern era emerged, just in time for another world war. ​Join the Barberton Library’s Local History Room for Barberton Between the Wars. The program will discuss Barberton in the 1920s and 1930s, the years between World War I and World War II.

The Vietnam War and Kent State - CANCELED

On May 4, 1970, Ohio National Guard troops fired at Kent State University students who were protesting the expansion and continuation of the Vietnam War. It is the only time in American history where the American military shot and killed American students. The incident sparked hundreds of student strikes across the country, a song by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, two investigations, and several court cases.
