Let's take a moment to remember those who have fought and, in some cases, lost their lives protecting the freedoms this country offers. In Barberton, residents remember soldiers and sailors with the War Memorial along the shores of Lake Anna. But, do you know its story? Throughout American history, immigrants have come to the United States to flee harsh living conditions or impending war in their home country. Many of these people were poor and oppressed. They came here looking for work and freedom, and from its founding, Barberton was known to have jobs.  Join us as we discuss the history of immigrants in Barberton and how they contributed to the development of Barberton.

The 1910s were a busy decade for Barberton. By the end of the decade, the city’s population had doubled to 18,811 and had grown physically as well. We will be discussing the many events of the decade that changed Barberton and helped it grow. This program will take place via Facebook Live.
