OCTOBER 2014 - The Frankenstein Journals by Scott Sonneborn - a fun read for Diary of a Wimpy Kid fans who like their scary a little silly!

“It was a photo of a baby being held by … FRANKENSTEIN’S MONSTER!” … “On the back of the photo was a note: One day, you’ll know why I had to leave forever.  But I want you to have this so you’ll know where you came from.  Love, Dad” … “HOLY CRUD … My dad was Frankenstein’s MONSTER!” J.D., pg. 10 - 12 The Frankenstein Journals

J.D, short for John Doe, is the only kid at Mr. Shelley’s Orphanage for Lost and Neglected Children.  No one has any idea who his family might be and because of his strange looks (two different color eyes, huge feet, although one is a little bigger than the other, and hands two different sizes) J.D.’s not likely to find a new family anytime soon.  But when Mr. Shelley gives J.D. the box he was found in, J.D. finds Dr. Frankenstein’s journal tucked under the blanket at the bottom, with a note from his dad … Frankenstein’s Monster!  J.D. soon realizes that if he can figure out the people whose body parts where used to make his dad, he can track down their kids or grandkids and find his family … “Parts from dozens of people went into my dad.  All those people were a part of him, and he passed their hands, feet, eyes, and hands to me.  Which meant the people who went into him were kind of related to me.”.  (pg. 15)

J.D.’s first stop on his adventure is the house of Dr. Frankenstein himself.  Unfortunately, Dr. Frankenstein is dead, but fortunately his cute daughter, Fran Kenstein, still lives there.  J.D. tells Fran his story and fortunately Fran seems excited to start looking for J.D.’s “family”, unfortunately she wants to find them so she can use their body parts to build her own monster.

Will J.D. be able to figure out who his “family” members are and warn them before Fran gets to them?  Join J.D. as he jumps in “Feet First” and begins his adventures in this brand new series The Frankenstein Journals by Scott Sonneborn.
