The lives of three very different middle schoolers are about to collide in the middle of nowhere. Home-schooled Ally, run-way ready Bree & failing-science Jack never would have met if it hadn't been for a total solar eclipse, the first one in 75 years and the last one for another 100 years. Ally's parents bought the Moon Shadow Campground ten years ago in anticipation of the big event, and Ally loves everything about living there. Bree's scientist parents are doing research and the Moon Shadow is the perfect place, especially since Ally's parents are ready to sell it and move back to "civilization"... Ally doesn't want to leave and Bree, who has a summer job at the mall selling make-up, doesn't want to go. As the two try to figure out a way to change their parents minds a bus-load of eclipse chasers arrives at the campground, with Jack in tow as the tour leader's assistant. Actually, Jack failed science and his science teacher, and tour leader, offered this trip as an option to summer-school. Despite their grumpy attitudes towards their lives, the three, along with Ally's brother Kenny, Bree's sister Melanie and Ally & Kenny's friend Ryan, form a close friendship and make an out of this world discovery.
