A NOTE FROM OUR DIRECTOR, ANN HUTCHISON. NEW READS, BOOK CLUB TO GO, AND STAFF BOOK REVIEWS. With Honor and Gratitude to All Who Served On Saturday, August 9, 2025 the Library was honored to kick off Main Street Barberton’s Heroes & Helpers event with a flagpole dedication ceremony on the Library’s front lawn. Thanks to a generous donation from the Barberton VFW Post 1066, the Library purchased and installed the new flagpole. Representatives from Boy Scout Troop 101 were on hand to raise the flag as the Barberton High School Marching Band’s talented leadership members played the National Anthem. The VFW and their Color Guard were present for the ceremony which also included a moment of silence for those who have served. The event ended with the the Pledge of Allegiance led by the Scouts. See photos of the event inside. The ceremony was a wonderful example of the community coming together to honor and thank those who have served our country. We are thankful for the amazing Barberton community and the people and organizations in it.

FALL 2025 EDITION - SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, & NOVEMBER STAFF BOOK REVIEWS Can’t Get Enough by Kennedy Ryan A billionaire tech mogul meets his match in a powerhouse woman who chooses herself first! The final book in the Skyland series delivers all the deep feels Kennedy Ryan is known for, but grab tissues - this one hits HARD. The tropes: Billionaire Romance, He Falls First and Hard, Found Family, Dual POV, Child Free by Choice, Caretaking for Parents, Plus Size Heroine, & BIPOC Rep. This series has had me in an absolute chokehold. I laughed at the banter and even teared up throughout chapters. This is the kind of series you don't just read, you FEEL deeply, and that's what Kennedy Ryan is known for. Anytime I'm in the mood to feel deeply and connect with characters, I know Kennedy Ryan will deliver! This was a beautiful conclusion to the Skyland Series, wrapping up everything perfectly while focusing on Hendrix's love story. As always, everything Kennedy Ryan writes is beautiful, well-researched, and completely engrossing. This one was SAD and deeply intense. If you have experience with loved ones having Alzheimer's and caring for them, this may be triggering, but the representation and details shared here really hit me in the feels. BRITTANY, Marketing Assistant, Reviews: House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City) by Sarah J. Maas Murder mystery. Romance. Urban Fantasy. House of Earth and Blood has all of this and more! Sarah J. Maas delves the reader into the life of a normal girl, Bryce Quinlan, as she works at a seemingly dead-end job after graduating from college. Bryce and her best friend, Danika, live by the work hard, party hard mindset. They both may have their responsibilities, but at least they have each other. But what happens when everything comes crashing down? Tragedy strikes, and Bryce is left all alone. All of a sudden, her job is the least of her concerns as she is thrown into the middle of an investigation for a string of murders, where she is the only person who can figure out the who and why behind them. Not to mention her partner in this investigation is an infamous Fallen angel and personal assassin for the Archangels who rule the city. From the first pages of this book, Sarah J. Maas had me hooked. This book is full of action, surprises, and a few tears. Crescent City was my introduction to urban fantasy, and I was not disappointed! The characters had me laughing, crying, ... and screaming at my book at times. House of Earth and Blood starts the Crescent City series off with a bang, and the ending left me wanting to explore the other books in the series as soon as possible.
