SUMMER 2025 EDITION - JUNE, JULY, & AUGUST STAFF BOOK REVIEWS We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer Roxana, Children’s Librarian, Reviews: We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer is a speculative horror novel that had me on the edge of my seat! Eve and Charlie have recently purchased a home that they are intending to flip. The house is old but in a beautiful neighborhood. However, things take a turn one night while Eve is home alone. We Used to Live Here will keep you on your toes as you try to figure out what is really going on. Marcus Kliewer craftily pulls you into an almost psychosis-like state as you delve deeper into the novel, making you question nearly everything! The twists and turns are further heightened by the inclusion of reports and documents from the police and other agencies that help you piece together the story. If you like stories set in a small town with strong emphasis on setting as characters as well as character-driven plotlines, give this book a try! Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez Sarah, Technical Services Manager, Reviews: What happens when you meet the right person at the wrong time? Do you follow your heart, or walk away? When Samantha and Xavier meet, their connection is instant and undeniable. But life isn't simple—Sam is needed at home to care for her mother, who is slowly slipping away due to dementia. As she prepares to take on this emotional responsibility, the question looms: can Xavier remain part of her world, or will love have to wait? I really enjoyed this book. It was filled with humor and silly moments that blended beautifully with the more vulnerable and emotional scenes. With both a love story and a moving family drama, there's naturally some emotional struggle, and it was incredibly thought-provoking. I found myself constantly wondering what I would do if my family and I were in the same situation. Abby Jimenez never sugarcoats difficult topics. Her compassionate, genuine approach to issues we don’t always want to talk about, hits me right in the feels. Her writing reminds me of the beautiful moments and cherished people I have in my life and gives me empathy for all that others may be dealing with in theirs.
