Write a short story in any genre based on one of our prompts for the chance to win a gift card from a local business. Rules: Entries must be between 2,000-5,000 words. The short story must be typed, handwritten entries will not be accepted. Participants must be within grades 6-12 to enter. Submissions must be sent as a PDF to our Teen Librarian at sarah.granville@barbertonlibrary.org. The subject line for your submission must be ‘Writing Contest’ and you must include your full name and phone number. The short story must follow one of the following prompts. Prompt One: Write a story about a person who becomes famous overnight. What are they famous for? How are the other people in their life affected? Do they stay famous? Prompt Two: Write a short story about an abandoned amusement park. Why did it close? What kind of attractions are still there? Why does your character go there? Submit your short stories! January 1 - February 28 Our Winter Reading Challenge is here, and it's open to ALL ages.
