Here are some simple fingerplays and rhymes you can try at home with your child. This week's theme is ice cream!

One scoop, two scoops, Three scoops, four

First we need a cone, Nice and crunchy

Then we need some ice cream, Sweet and yummy,

Scoop ’em on; stack ’em on’ Up to the sky

We love ice cream; my, oh my!

First comes vanilla, Cold and sweet

Then comes chocolate A delicious treat.

Here’s some strawberry; Orange sherbet, too,

A super-duper scooper cone Just for you!

One scoop, two scoops, Three scoops, four

We love ice cream Let’s have some more!

Five Ice Cream Cones (count on fingers)

Five little ice cream cones so good to eat.

The first one said, "I'm a summer time treat."

The second one said, "It's such a hot day."

The third one said, "I'm melting away."

The fourth one said, "Don't lose your top."

The fifth one said, "Oh dear , ker-plop!"

Little Miss Muffet

Little Miss Muffet

Sat on her tuffet

Eating some chocolate ice cream

Along came a spider

Who sat down beside her

And said, "Give me some or I will scream!

Five Ice Cream Cones

Five ice cream cones from the ice cream store,

Mommy takes strawberry now there are four.

Daddy takes chocolate, which leaves only three.

Will there be any ice cream for me?

Sam says he`ll have chocolate like dad.

Now there are only two cones to be had.

I have an idea; I’m not sure they’ll agree.

I think I`ll take both cones just for me.

Eat Quickly!

My ice cream cone is good to eat. (lick slowly)

But I must lick it quickly (lick fast!)

Or it will melt from the heat. (melt to the floor)

And become quite sticky! (act like stuck to the floor)

Ice Cream

(To the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)

Ice cream, ice cream it’s too cold

It’s too cold for me to hold

So I put it in a cup

Then I eat it all up

Ice cream Ice cream it’s so good

I’d eat it always if I could.
