The Local History Room is located on the ground floor of the Barberton Public Library. The Local History Room contains a collection of resources and materials with a particular emphasis on the local history of the Barberton area. The room is full of information about the people and events that shaped the history of this area. Due to the nature of the collection, the Local History Room contains many important resources for genealogists and other researchers. AREA OF FOCUS: While the main focus of the Local History Room is information pertaining to the history of Barberton, Ohio and the immediate local area, the room also has several secondary areas of focus. We collect and preserve information related to Summit County, Ohio, and the surrounding counties (Medina, Wayne, Stark, and Portage). Additionally, since this area was originally part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, we also collect information about the history of that general area. MATERIALS AND RESOURCES: Several large display cases house permanent and
temporary displays of Barberton area photographs and artifacts. In
addition to the display cases, the Local History Room contains materials
in a variety of form, such as: HOURS AND SERVICES: Monday
