Warm Up Barberton

cat with ball of yarn

Lively ladies with crafty minds and talented hands meet one Wednesday
morning each month.  What do they do?  They knit or crochet 7 x 9 inch
rectangles of any color or any yarn.  Then those rectangles are
stitched together into warm and snuggly quilts.  These handmade
creations are then given to those in need in our community.

How can you help?  You can donate yarn.
You can donate knitted or crocheted 7 x 9 inch rectangles.
Just drop these donations off here at the library.
Don't know how to knit or crochet?  The ladies will
be more than happy to teach you.  Just drop by
on a Wednesday morning, usually the 2nd Wednesday of
the month, at 9:30 a.m. in the Spillette Meeting Room.

Some upcoming dates are:

Wednesday, May 14
Wednesday, June 11

Learn a new hobby and help the community!  All at your local library!

The Barberton Public Library is proud to join Summit Memory, an online
scrapbook dedicated to the history of Summit County! Hosted by
Akron-Summit County Public Library, Summit Memory provides access to a
wide range of collections from historical and cultural organizations
throughout Summit County. This project allows partner institutions to
showcase historic collections online, and provides users a new way to
experience the history of their community by searching the collections
for specific items or by simply browsing the hundreds of photographs,
newspapers, letters and more. Currently on display through the
Barberton Public Library Local History Room is the
O. C. Barber Mansion Collection. This collection includes more than 40
photographs of the opulent mansion built by Barberton's founder from
the time of its construction in 1909 to its demolition in 1965.

The Local History Room would like to express appreciation to the
Barberton Kiwanis for their generous support in this project.
