The Community Health Library is located on the first floor of Summa Barberton Hospital. Look for this sign hanging from the ceiling near the door.
Here is a view of CHL's entrance, near the Central Elevators.
The first area to come into view upon entering is CHL's banner, a table of brochures that include library as well as health information, and a display of items related to This Month's Health Focus. There is also a computer that is open to the public. Use it to check email, surf the internet, or utilize health databases and websites.
The librarian's desk as well as the bulk of CHL's health information is located to the right. The desk will be staffed with a professional librarian who is able to assist with information searches from 10AM to 3PM Monday through Friday.
The first three rows of shelves on the left contain a display of new items, including books, audiobooks, and health DVDs. Below that is a shelf containing items related to hospice and palliative care. The bottom two rows house CHL's collection of reference books. CHL's nonfiction book collection is organized by Dewey Decimal Classification. It starts with the shelves on the right half of this picture and wraps around to several shelves behind these.
The health DVDs are located on shelves behind the staff desk. This collection includes workout DVDs as well as information on a variety of health topics. It also utilizes Dewey Decimal Classification.
The audiobooks are located to the right of the health DVDs. This collection includes books on CD on the topics of health, science, and self-help.
On the other side of the door is the magazine collection. The left half of this picture contains monthly magazines, while the right contains weeklies. Each half is in alphabetical order by title. This collection contains both popular and health-related magazines. Located below the monthly magazines are health brochures on a variety of topics.
Entertainment DVDs and novels are located to the right of the magazines. CHL carries both express and regular DVDs. A small supply of novels is kept on hand. As with any other item, novels not available at CHL can be ordered from the main Barberton Library or any Clevnet library. We hope you have enjoyed this virtual tour of CHL. While it occupies only a small space, the Community Health Library Branch of the Barberton Public Library contains a wealth of information and entertainment.
