September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. The prostate is a gland located below a man's bladder. In prostate cancer, a buildup of cancerous cells on the prostate forms a tumor. Prostate cancer is rare in men under the age of 40, but it is the second most common cause of death from cancer in men of all ages. Levels of a substance called prostate specific antigen (PSA) are often high in men with prostate cancer.
