August is Psoriasis Awareness Month!
The National Psoriasis Foundation has designated August as Psoriasis Awareness Month.
Psoriasis is a chronic immune system disease characterized by red, scaly patches on the skin. Psoriasis is not contagious. While there are various treatments that can help clear up psoriasis for a period of time, there is no cure. Increased awareness is important - many people who have this disease face discrimination because others think it is contagious. Some even limit how much they go out in public due to being harassed and embarrassed.
